University of Miami Student in Coma After Tragic Hit and Run Accident

A University of Miami student is clinging to life after he was hit by an automobile while crossing the intersection of Red Road and Blue Road in Coral Gables, Florida. The student, identified as Jared Paul Jones, was initially announced dead by Coral Gables police. However, police later said Jones was still alive; officials at Jackson Memorial Hospital confirmed Jones was alive.

Jones was hit while crossing the street. The driver of the automobile left the scene of the accident. Witnesses described the driver as an elderly man. The vehicle’s license plate contains the letters and numbers X64 and the vehicle was described as a light blue or gray sedan, possibly an Oldsmobile.
