Child Bitten by Pit Bull Dog – Jacksonville, Florida

A 2-year-old boy was bitten on the jaw by a pit bull recently in Jacksonville, Florida. The child’s neighbor called 9-1-1 after the boy’s mother brought the child to the neighbor. The child was taken to Baptist Medical Center, fire-rescue personnel said the boy’s personal injuries were not life threatening. Although the neighbor described the child’s face as “just terrible. It’s just bad.”

Apparently the boy’s family had recently taken the dog in as a stray and had not previously seen signs of aggression. Family friends said the dog was sleeping on the boy’s bed just before the attack. Animal Care and Protective Services removed the dog and police are investigating the incident.
