In Florida, elementary schools are required by the Florida legislation to provide for character education and instruction. While the Florida legislator requires this type of instruction, it did not provide for a specified curriculum for this kind of education. I strongly support life lessons and character education in schools. Having a knowledge of Math, Science, and English is certainly important. It is also vital that children are educated on how to be good people and how to get along with others. Respect, kindness, and forgiveness as well as other character trails are certainly a part of education that a young child should have in elementary school.
