In the early morning hours and the afternoon hours, thousands of Florida children travel to school in a county school bus. Unfortunately, many children are injured while on the bus or while walking to or from the bus stop. In Sanford, Florida, it was reported that a 14 year old boy was hit by a car while standing at a school bus stop. The driver of the vehicle stated that he did not see the boy because there was dew on his windshield. The driver was issued a citation for careless driving. The boy suffered personal injuries as a result of this school bus stop pedestrian / automobile accident. See 14 Year Old Hit by Vehicle at School Bus Stop.
It has been reported that at least 12 children have been hit by vehicles in the Central Florida area since the 2011 – 2012 school year began.
Florida has specific traffic laws and regulations regarding school zones, passing, pedestrian crossings, and other traffic matters. See Florda Traffic Laws and Regulations.
